Why TPMS is so important, especially for trucks and heavy commercial vehicles
Tires and wheels are the only connection between the road and the vehicle. Their condition is therefore extremely important for the road safety of passengers and other road users. As safety-relevant components on the vehicle, they can have a decisive influence on braking distance and driving behavior.
While around 7% of car breakdowns are caused by tire damage, the figure for trucks is around 65%. Tire damage is therefore one of the most common causes of vehicle breakdowns. For this reason, tires should be professionally checked regularly by appropriate experts and replaced if necessary.
The most important safety features of tires include Quality class, tire marking (EU label), tread design (consider seasons if necessary), tread depth, ageing condition, damage, wear and tire inflation pressure.
